embracing multi-passionate creativity
In a world that so often urges us to specialize, I’m embracing a different approach.
Hi! I’m Vaani Sai—a writer, editor, and multi-passionate creative.
From technical writing to creative storytelling, I celebrate the freedom to create without boundaries. My work is fueled by the belief that creativity thrives when we embrace its many facets, and I take pride in my ability to explore diverse perspectives and ideas in a multitude of styles.
how it began
Like many writers, I started scribbling stories at a young age. I dreamed up fantastical worlds where I was both a spy and a magician, filling my notebooks with these adventures. As I got older, I dabbled in poetry, inspired by the brilliance of Rudy Francisco and Sarah Kay.
Then, adulthood happened — and with it, the weight of "practical" choices. I followed the well-trodden path into STEM, eventually graduating with an Honors degree in Neuroscience from Western University. Somewhere along the way, the dream of writing dimmed.
But now, I’m finding my way back. I’ve realized that science and storytelling aren’t so different — both search for truth, both require curiosity, and both demand patience. I’m blending the two worlds in my own way, writing with the same wonder I had as a child, but this time with a deeper understanding of the human mind. The dream never really faded. It was just waiting for me to return.
a little blog
It wasn’t until after university that I started taking my dream of being a writer seriously. By then, I was living in South Korea, right as travel blogging was booming. Inspired by the movement, I decided to start documenting my experiences. That’s how Dosas and Diamonds was born. "Dosas" — a beloved South Indian breakfast staple — pays homage to my culture, while "diamonds" represents my birthstone. What started as a small blog filled with anecdotes from my weekly adventures around Korea has since grown into something much more.
diversifying my portfolio
I spent years writing exclusively about travel, but something kept tugging at me — there was more I wanted to say. I’d loved my undergraduate studies and found myself missing science. That feeling became even stronger when a family member fell ill. Watching how health information failed her was a turning point. I realized I had a gift: the privilege of scientific literacy — something not everyone has. That moment pushed me toward health writing and solidified my commitment to creating accessible, evidence-based health and wellness content.
At the same time, I came to understand the broader importance of education and literacy from a young age. After years of teaching in South Korea, I knew I wanted to stay connected to education, which is why I now contribute to educational content as well.
It’s all part of the same mission: making information clear, accessible, and useful for those who need it most.
dosas and diamonds today
What started as a personal exploration of creativity and my many passions has blossomed into a brand that delivers impactful, inclusive, and informative content across various domains. After earning a certificate in Editing from Simon Fraser University, I sharpened my skills in precision, clarity, and storytelling — all of which now shape the content I create.
People often tell me I should have named my company after myself or included a hint of what I do in the name — it would have been more "lucrative," they say. But the name isn’t just a label — it’s a conversation starter. It gives me the chance to tell people about my journey, my mission, and everything the brand represents. It’s a reminder that I’m not confined to one path or one story. dosas and diamonds embodies the power of embracing every part of who you are.
there’s so much more to this story.
Like I said,
